Colored Mystress: Art Series

On the 15th of September, 2012

I will be releasing the 2nd part of the "Colored Mystress" Series.

Colored Mystress 2

This piece is mixed media,

fixed to a board, shellac'd on wood,

adhered to a thick mirror, and then mounted

into a silk screen frame.

The frame was once a silk screen,

until it caught a snag and tore.  I then finished clearing away

the nylon screen and used the aluminum frame.

Ready to hang.

Colored Mystress 1

Also, a mixed media piece,

the only difference (besides colors) is that

this first piece is adhered to glass, then mounted in a black frame.

The OD of the entire piece is also a touch different.

Ready to hang.

This piece is available through my Etsy Store:

Stay Tuned for the Release

GERSON INSTITUTE FUNDRAISER DONATION

Last April we held an Art Show Fundraiser for the non-profit Gerson Institute.  If you are unfamiliar with the Gerson Therapy, it is an alternative dietary therapy formulated in the early 1900's by Max Gerson, MD.  This very successful drug-free method of healing the body is administered by consuming fresh organic vegetables with a few guidelines and a body cleansing.
For more information on the Gerson Method, please refer to their website:

http://gerson.org/gerpress/

Through the sales of the art & entry fees for the game tournament we were able to raise $215 for the Institute!! We also brought some good attention to the alternate options for healing the body and promoting a healthy diet over drugs.  If you or someone you know is suffering from any type of ailment, check and see if the Gerson Therapy is right for you.

Thank You to everyone that helped support this event
and
God Bless all that we've lost.

Fair Trade Goods from Bolivia, With Love!

Fair Trade Republica: Luxury and Style Meet Fair Trade Ideals

Bolivia is a land lost in time, a land of ancient cultures isolated and preserved through the centuries high in the Andes mountains. It is an other-worldly land of spectacular extremes and contrasts, where the desert meets the moon and stark peaks tower over lush rainforest. Bolivia is an absolute must-see among the South American attractions, however underrepresented on the world stage, unjustly residing in the shadow of its more famous, well-worn neighbors.

And just like in the country itself, at Fair Trade Republica you will find the unique, the beautiful, and the spectacular that Bolivia has been hiding from the outside world. The fair trade gifts and alpaca apparel we present to you are not souvenirs or products to be had at South American tourist markets. These artisans and their products are carefully selected for their exquisite craftsmanship, superior quality, and designer style and represent the very finest the continent has to offer.

Despite its rich culture and wealth of abundant resources, Bolivia remains a country left behind. The lack of access to the sea limits possible industry and international trade, continuing Bolivia's tragic history and status as the most impoverished country in South America.

With such little developed trade, Bolivian artisans have the skill and materials to create incredible products, but scant hope of being able to sell them anywhere aside from on the streets and in small local shops. The possibility of developing a sustainable and thriving business that utilizes their talents is certainly slim.

We at Fair Trade Republica have a vision of enabling these indigenous and impoverished artisans to build their own successful and sustainable businesses founded in creativity and skill, while also shining the light on the natural and cultural splendors Bolivia has to offer.
